The sound bar did not add any more bass or volume over the current factory 5 1/4 speakers on my boat. Turning on the led lights resulted in a very loud pulsating hum being introduced into the amp powering the 5 1/4 speakers. So in the end I definitely would not recommend this product as a standalone stereo system for a boat.
